Cold Plunge & Ice Bath Therapy

Held at 46°F. Two or three minutes is all it takes, and the effect on how alert you feel lasts for hours.

About Deep Relaxation Therapy

Unlock your body’s natural resilience with deliberate cold exposure. Our commercial-grade cold plunge is strictly maintained at an invigorating 46 degrees, providing the perfect environment for contrast therapy. Submerging your body in cold water triggers a powerful systemic response, easing inflammation and the soreness that follows hard training, flushing lactic acid from fatigued muscles, and stimulating the vagus nerve.

Beyond the physical recovery, cold plunging is a profound mental reset. Enduring the cold forces you to control your breath and master your stress response, resulting in a massive, natural spike in dopamine and norepinephrine that lasts for hours. It is the ultimate tool for building mental grit and starting your day with unmatched energy.

Located in our pristine Lake Bluff facility, our cold plunge is designed for both elite athletes and everyday professionals. Whether you use it as a quick morning wake-up or pair it with our infrared sauna for full contrast therapy, you will leave feeling electric, focused, and unstoppable.

Frequently Asked Questions

What are the benefits of cold plunge therapy?

Cold plunging drastically reduces muscle inflammation, speeds up physical recovery, boosts your immune system, improves circulation, and provides a massive natural boost in dopamine and mental clarity.

How cold is the water, and how long should I stay in?

Our plunge is kept at a therapeutic 46°F (8°C). For maximum benefits, we recommend staying submerged up to your neck for 2 to 3 minutes.

Is cold plunging safe for beginners?

Yes. If it is your first time, our staff will guide you on proper breathing techniques to help you manage the initial shock. You can start with just 30 seconds and build your tolerance over time.

Should I cold plunge before or after the sauna?

For classic contrast therapy, we recommend alternating: 15 minutes in the hot sauna, followed by 2 minutes in the cold plunge, and repeating. Always end your session on cold to allow your body to naturally warm itself back up.

What do I need to bring for my cold plunge session?

Please bring a swimsuit. We provide fresh towels and a private changing area for your convenience.

The research behind this

Cold immersion has the largest single trial of anything we offer. Three worth knowing:

  • Buijze et al. (2016), PLoS One - a randomized controlled trial of 3,018 people. Those who finished their shower cold took 29% less sick leave from work. Interestingly, they didn't get ill less often - they got through it. Read it
  • Šrámek et al. (2000), European Journal of Applied Physiology - cold immersion raised noradrenaline by around 530% and dopamine by around 250%, holding for hours afterward. This is the closest thing to an explanation for how you feel walking out. Read it
  • Bleakley et al., Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews - 17 trials, 366 participants. Cold immersion reduced muscle soreness at 24, 48, 72 and 96 hours compared with resting. Read it
