Private Infrared Sauna

Deep, breathable heat in a suite of your own. Easier to sit in than a traditional sauna, and the kind of heat that's actually been through clinical trials.

About Private Infrared Sauna

Step into the healing power of heat. Unlike traditional saunas that simply heat the air around you, our full-spectrum infrared saunas use advanced light waves to penetrate deep into your tissues, muscles, and joints. This creates a deeply detoxifying, cellular-level sweat that produces a deep, sustained sweat at a lower, more breathable temperature.

Infrared sauna therapy is a cornerstone of proactive wellness. It dramatically increases circulation, accelerates muscle recovery, supports collagen production for better-looking skin, and raises your heart rate the way a light workout does. It is the perfect standalone treatment or the ideal warm-up before stepping into our cold plunge.

Enjoy the quiet peace of your own private sauna suite at our Lake Bluff studio. Whether you are looking to burn calories, relieve chronic stiffness, or simply escape the cold Chicago winters, our infrared therapy will leave you feeling purified and revitalized.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between an infrared sauna and a traditional sauna?

Traditional saunas use extreme heat to warm the air, which can be harsh to breathe. Infrared saunas use light waves to heat your body directly from the inside out, allowing for a deeper, more detoxifying sweat at a lower, more comfortable temperature.

What should I wear inside the infrared sauna?

Since you will be in a private suite, most clients prefer to sauna in the nude or wear a swimsuit/light athletic wear. We provide fresh towels for you to sit on and use during your session.

How long is a typical sauna session?

Our standard infrared sauna sessions are 45 minutes. This gives your body ample time to acclimate to the heat, raise your core temperature, and achieve a deep, therapeutic sweat.

What are the health benefits of infrared heat?

Benefits include relief from muscle and joint pain, improved circulation, reduced stiffness, easier recovery between training days, support for your body's natural immune response to heat, and thirty uninterrupted minutes with your phone in another room.

Should I use the sauna before or after a float?

Sauna first is what we'd recommend, and it's how the Subtraction Protocol™ runs Shed (sauna), then Still (float), then Seal (plunge). Heat releases muscle tension before you get in the water, and a body that's already let go will float deeper than one still holding on. Some people prefer to finish in the sauna, and that works too. Tell us at the desk and we'll sequence it however you like.

The research behind this

Infrared heat has a smaller research base than people assume - and a better one. Three worth knowing:

  • Janssen et al. (2016), JAMA Psychiatry - a randomized, double-blind, sham-controlled trial of water-filtered infrared-A heat in major depressive disorder. A single session reduced depressive symptoms, still measurable six weeks later. Read it
  • Matsushita, Masuda & Tei (2008), Internal Medicine - far-infrared sauna at 60°C, the same heat we use, in women with fibromyalgia. Pain scores fell by roughly half. Read it
  • Oosterveld et al., Clinical Rheumatology - eight infrared sessions over four weeks in patients with rheumatoid arthritis and ankylosing spondylitis, with reduced pain, stiffness and fatigue. Read it
